This one is narrow across the front but has a bit more depth behind it. Dressed MDF 42x18mm keeps the face to 42mm while stepping the thickness up to 18mm, so it feels quite different from the 42x12mm version once installed. The profile is plain — no bevel, bullnose or decorative groove — which leaves you with a clean rectangular finish. It can be useful around smaller internal openings or anywhere a narrow trim suits the available space. If you’re matching it to existing skirting or another moulding, pay close attention to that 18mm thickness. That’s often where an otherwise close match goes wrong.
